New opportunities for driver training

driving simulator in driving school

Driving simulators have revolutionized learner driver training by offering a new quality of training. Learner drivers who practise on a simulator before their first driving lesson are less afraid to drive in reality and are more confident in handling the car right from the start. For many novice drivers, this is a decisive criterion when choosing a driving school. Driving schools that offer their students simulators stand out from the competition thanks to the quality of their training.

Technology meets enthusiasm

Customers will be excited by the modern technology, already familiar to many from popular computer games. The often dry curriculum is made interesting, lively, and exciting in a playful and innovative way ("Serious Gaming"). It has been proven that a combination of learning and fun leads to success much faster than traditional methods. Since driving simulators were introduced into training, both instructors and trainees have benefited from a range of advantages. Simulators enable energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, weather-independent, efficient, and stress-free driver training. Students can be safely prepared for hazardous traffic situations in the simulator, such as right-of-way scenarios, maintaining distance, choosing the correct speed and checking blind spots. Students can repeat various situations as often as needed to become aware of the dangers in traffic, which would not be possible in real-life driving.

Benefits of a driving simulator

  • Secure a competitive advantage
  • Optimize income
  • Making driving schools more attractive
  • Take away the initial fears of novice drivers
  • Minimal staff commitment
  • Minimale Personalbindung
  • Publisher-independent and without contract commitment

First-class simulation for traffic education

SimX Car driving simulator

The “SimX Car” combines modern design and the latest technology to create a perfect balance between education and entertainment. The result is a convincing communication of traffic education content. The “head-tracking” system precisely detects the driver's head position and makes it possible to follow the driver's line of vision. This also trains the learner driver's gaze.

Simple operation and clear user guidance

Operating concept

The “SimX Car” software teaches trainees not only the basics of driving, but also advanced knowledge. The focus is on the individual support of each learner driver. The simulator is designed in such a way that the students can operate it independently. At the beginning of the training, each student is given a personal account that accompanies them throughout the entire training period. The results of each exercise are saved and analyzed by an error detection system. The student receives a detailed driving analysis as well as a performance value (“score”), which they can improve by repeating the lessons. Using the replay function, each driving sequence can be called up and analyzed again. The score makes it possible to compare performance with friends and encourages drivers to practise tricky situations until they have internalized the correct reaction. With the “SimX Car”, students are optimally prepared for their first driving lessons in a driving school vehicle and receive a quality of training that theory and practice alone cannot offer in the conventional way.

Practical learning without risk

Das Basismodul

Training with a driving simulator is a modern and effective form of practical road training for a Class B driver’s license. In the simulator, learner drivers can practice various driving situations and improve their driving skills under realistic conditions. Numerous traffic scenarios can be simulated. The learner can practice in a stress-free and safe environment. A major advantage of the driving simulator is that the learner can repeatedly practice specific situations and correct their mistakes without encountering dangerous situations on the road. This allows for targeted improvement of uncertain driving maneuvers or weaknesses in driving behavior. Training with the driving simulator is also a great way to overcome fears or uncertainties in traffic. Training in a realistic environment boosts self-confidence and provides the learner with greater safety on the road.

Total length of the module: 4 x 45min to 6 x 45min (depending on the student's learning speed)

Pedagogical training content

  • Controls
  • Shifting and clutching exercises
  • Turning and behavior at intersections
  • Roundabouts
  • Right-of-way rules
  • Visual training
  • Gap acceptance
  • Speed selection
  • Safety distances
  • Behavior around buses
  • Merging
  • Highway
  • Weather Conditions

special modules

Danger awareness

The software module offers a variety of
critical traffic situations to teach the driver how to "read" the road and to make them aware of potential hazards early on. The exercises include
handling wildlife crossing, merging, pedestrians on the road, and reacting to the mistakes of other road users.
The simulator also provides simulated drives on wet roads, in fog, snow, or darkness to vividly demonstrate the dangers in these conditions and how to avoid accidents.

Shunting (with and without trailer)

Parking often presents a challenge for learner drivers
With the simulator, they can calmly practice parking both perpendicular and parallel to the road.
The program also includes parking
in the tight spaces of a parking garage.
Additionally, various exercises for maneuvering with a trailer are available.

Free driving

Here the driver can put what he has learned into practice without stress and familiarize himself with the demands of normal driving. Weather and lighting conditions can be selected to make the free drive particularly realistic. It is also possible to train in rain, fog, night and twilight. The simulator offers various environments such as city, country road, mountains and highway.

Motorsport

In addition to traffic training, the simulator also offers a racing module. Here you can drive against the clock or race, even with different weather conditions.

supported vehicle types

  • Supported vehicle types
  • Solo vehicle
  • Semi-trailer
  • Articulated train
  • Tandem train
  • Bus
  • Small pickup truck

Training drives
include controls, behavior before and after the drive, turning, maintaining distance
and being overtaken, overtaking, roundabouts, inclines, lateral safety distance, long-distance driving,
night driving, and eco-training.

Hazard Situations
cover swerving vehicles, pedestrians on the road, poor weather conditions,
obstacles in poorly visible areas, misbehavior of other road users, wildlife crossing,
playing children, and more.

Maneuvering
includes reversing around corners, parallel parking, perpendicular parking, approaching loading docks,
shifting laterally, and reversing in circles.

Training for Real-Life Scenarios

Additional Module: Emergency Drives

Emergency drives for fire services, police, and emergency medical services place high demands on drivers that go beyond typical road conditions. The "SimX Car" driving simulator offers both experienced and novice emergency drivers the opportunity to train under these special conditions and deepen their existing experience. The "Emergency Drives" program includes a variety of training scenarios. For example, the driver must maneuver their emergency vehicle through an intersection with moderate to heavy traffic while facing a red light. Navigating through a rescue lane can also present challenges. In the city, additional hazards such as suddenly braking cars, traffic jams, or pedestrians unexpectedly stepping onto the roadway must be managed. Nevertheless, the time factor must be carefully considered, as every second counts during emergency drives.
Through the simulator, firefighters or emergency responders can learn to quickly and accurately assess critical situations and act strategically to reach the scene safely and efficiently.

Examples of Hazard Focus Areas

include running red lights at intersections, misbehavior of other road users, and creating and navigating through rescue lanes on highways. Other hazards involve obscure traffic situations, collisions with trams, and bridges with low clearance. Additionally, dangers from cyclists and pedestrians, as well as overtaking maneuvers—such as those performed before hill crests—are important areas of focus.

Options

Motion System

To make the simulation of acceleration forces even more realistic,
a motion system is installed under the driver's seat, capable of performing roll and pitch movements.
This creates an even more authentic driving experience.

Visual Systems

Alternatively, a variant with three 55” screens is
available for those who value a large,
impressive display.

Integrated Visual System

For a space-saving and flexible installation of the
SimX Car simulator, we offer an option with 27-inch screens
instead of the standard monitors. This makes the
simulator narrower and easier to transport,
making it ideal for smaller
spaces.
